My House!

On our way to simplifying - all I can think is "am I crazy?"  Here are the pics of my new home, I am jittery with excitement.  I have been culling through my belongings, and now I can visualize what I have to work with.  Oh my, it is tiny!  Also, if you like this, you need to get in contact with Scott Stewart of Ozarks Best - here is his contact info:ozarksbest@yahoo.com  Many of you have been clamoring to see it - so here it is!

First, the photos you will see are my inspiration.  This tiny home is a 'Tumbleweed House', but here in Arkansas we have Scott Stewart!

Now, here is the living room:
This one up above is actually the 'kitchen' adjoining the living room.  My washer and dryer will be here also.  Gulp.  I can do this!!!!  Here is the bathroom and shower stall.  The commode area is actually very spacious :-).
This is my son's loft area, notice the window above the kitchen, and the two windows in the actual loft:
This photo above is the loft access area, positioned in his 5 x 4 walk-in closet just off the bathroom.  Clever, no?
Ok, I can do this.  I think the garage sale pile just got bigger.  This is going to be a great adventure, I will keep the simplification goals in front of me.

Can I ask why you seem to have placed the house under a separate canopy/shelter? Just seems odd to me.

But overall really cool and I must give my respect to you to downsizing and experiencing distilling your life of it's unnecessary things.

Riley - this photo was actually taken during construction. How funny, I had not thought about how this may have been understood! Thanks for the opportunity to explain. We have actually 'parked' our home on land now, I will post new photos as soon as the deck is finished.

I envy tiny house owners in a big way. MY house exceeds normal even for a typical US family. We moved into this 3000 sf. house with big windows in the back and front. Birds fly into the windows on occasion breaking their poor necks. The roof is flat & lacks insulation value. The basement is 1800 sf. The whole house has an unbelievable amount of furniture. I am not comfortable here, now living by myself. In winter the house rapidly loses heat and feels cold, unless I'm baking bread in my ovens.

This is fantastic!! I've read so much about the Tumbleweed Homes. They just fascinate me! I'm just finding your blog today and can't wait to totally emmerse myself into reading it!

My home is small by most standards at 950 sq ft...but it's just perfect for me and my daughter. And I really do think I could downsize even more some day.

I have to say out of all of the "Tiny Houses" I have looked up yours is one of my absolute favorites! I wish I could just steal your plans and edit them a little bit for ourselves! We, too, are a family of 3 and a small house like this may be the only viable options for home ownership for us in the foreseeable future. We currently live in about 900 sq ft, but have so much unused space. Owning a home like yours is now a goal for us!

I am just wondering...is the bed headboard and footboard sentimental? I have my grandmothers entire bedroom set, but found i had much more room when I left off the footboard. Also, what about those beds that lift right up on hinges and have lots of storage under the bed. It has the same footprint but with lots more storage.

Sort of...they do have a bit of sentimental value....but mostly, they hold up the foot of the bed :) My mother-in-law, who gave the set to me, told me that the bed and dresser are over 100 years old. They are made in four pieces, so I do need the foot board to hold up 'it's' end of the bed.

Yes, it would feel more spacious over all, but the trade off is that I have almost three feet (tall) of storage space under the bed.

Yeah, this house is amazing. Still have a lot on your site to look into.
Where did you get most of your inspiration from?
