The Ceiling is Finally Finished!

Now, surprisingly, and contrary to all bets placed, my blond hair is not yellow + blue makes green.
Miraculously not even a bit of blue in my hair.

This is what I started with:

Lots of potential, right?

This is NOW:

I was able to miraculously transform this pine table from the overwhelming yellowness that it was before, to this pretty aqua color using Krylon Spray Paint.  I will show that later.

Turn around - be careful, don't bump into anything......This is the living room.  I maybe should have left the light on for this shot??  Can you see the beautiful blue ceilings?  So peaceful.

Now for my bedroom.  Remember, this is 320 sq ft, so it is not easy to get a good shot....

This was before:

 And now:
Sorry about the not so good quality of the shot.  I will fix it later :)
Also, I would like ideas on the eyesore, but necessary, air conditioner.  Maybe I will just ignore it......

See the blue ceiling?  By the way, more of Janis Wylie, the wonderful sister-in-law artist's work in the original painting below:

I still have to do the bathroom, the office, our walk-in-closet (yes, I DO have one), and my son's room.  His room will be in the summer as I will be adding wings and raising the roof on his loft.
IT WILL be AWESOME when we are done :)

I love my tiny home.

I REALLY love it.

Pantone declares 2011 the year of Honeysuckle Pink

Source: Pantone

I knew it was about time to hear this years color predictions, but as usuall I lag behind....Somehow it does not matter as much in Baby Land, the soft, fuzzy, beautiful kingdom where I dwell.  Pink has always reigned supreme.  Maybe not a specific shade such as
Pantone 18-2120 TCX,
but pink.
Some interesting facts about pink:
On European children pink was considered a stronger color, thus was considered appropriate for boys, blue was more delicate, therefore should be saved for girls.  Also,  in 1921, the Women's Institute for Domestic Science in Pennsylvania endorsed pink for boys, blue for girls.  (See it here)
For a short time, it was thought that a specific hue of pink, very close to Pepto Bismol, could calm inmates.  Prisons across America primed and painted the prissy pink hue on walls everywhere.  Finally declared a failure, they have been slowly covered over with Institutional Grey.  What a shame, seeing that that shade is now coming back.
So now I leave you with this:

Many thanks to Nita at Mod Vintage Life for the heads up :)

Simple living in our tiny home - we've been featured on NPR

Minkee Baby Gifts is a blog about our lifestyle, and while we are not defined by what we do for work, I do seem to eat, drink, and sleep fuzz from this lovely little business. Part of our lifestyle change has been that of scaling down and simplifying. Abe Martinez of KUAR, a NPR affiliate, has finished a nice piece about Tiny Homes. Check it out here: Tiny Homes Make Huge Sense for Some Arkansans
