I wish I could express how we feel, how our life has changed. We are going on three years now! My son is a well balanced, happy kid who has plans for the future (that do not involve weighing himself down with heavy payments). He sees the benefits of living simply. Benefits that range from having parents who are truly present, to a tangible basketball game that can break out at any moment during the day.
I sleep so peacefully.
Well, his room is not completely finished, but we finally got the stripes painted on my son’s room. These are his idea, I think they look great, cozy up the space a bit. You can read about how we raised the roof here: http://www.320squarefoothome.com/2012/02/sorry-so-sorry.html
The water color on the wall was painted by my amazing sister-in-law, Janis Wylie. She also did the paintings in the living room and my bedroom, but this one is special because it is of my husband when he was my son’s age. It was a beautiful gift to warm up his room.
A shameless plug: You KNOW where he got the minky bedcover
He has a fire escape ladder under his bed, and KNOWS HOW TO USE IT!
Along with a few choice belongings.
And a little more storage space on these shelves I built (it took a tube of caulk to hide the terrible craftsmanship, but hey, it was FREE!)
This little blue cabinet hides all his game systems……all the wires except one are hidden…..I will fix that too, someday.
And Finally, a video to give it context.
and, for those who have asked, here is an exterior shot:
