New developments

Wow, this place is full of cobwebs…..it has been a while since I checked in.  So what have you been up to?

Winter is coming, I really wanted a wood stove.  My parents always had a wood burning stove as we grew up.  My father was in construction……I lived in 12 different houses, but we always had the stability provided by a wood cook stove my parents installed in every house.  It is very similar to this stove, but WITHOUT the electric elements on the top:

In the winter Mom always had a pot of pinto beans boiling on the back, and cornbread in the oven (my Daddy is a Georgia boy).  During the spring and summer she always had seeds for her garden in the bread keepers above.  Good memories.

I had a stove like this also, but I never got to use it.  I drug it around to three houses before I finally decided to give it a good home.  We were moving into our tiny house, there would be no space, so I tearfully parted with my beloved Home Comfort wood stove.

But guess what?  I found a wood stove!  I am in for a major remodel (not really, in a kitchen space this small, nothing is major).

I have wanted a marine stove like this FOREVER:

Model211Detail

It is beautiful, so beautiful.  But this tiny stove, complete with a baking oven, will run you…….gulp……… $2,730.00 - $4,020.00, depending on the finish.  You can see them HERE

So my next coveted item would be this:

SkippyDetail

This is the Little Skippy marine cook stove, the little brother to the Shipmate Model 211 above.  Equally as unatainable, it will cost a whopping, not in my budget, $830.00 - $1,905.00, depending if you go Plain Jane cast iron or Gussied up Enamel.

But like Puddy the house cat, GEDC0096  I waited patiently to POUNCE.  Yes, dear friends, I got one on Ebay!  Yes, EBAY!  It was $250.00, but the sweet gentleman who owned it took $200.00.  This was the magic number.  I would not be able to convince hubby unless it was $200.00 or less.  Mine has been seen better days, but I love it.  It has a twisted left leg, but it is healthy, no cracks. See:

My Little Skippy arrives on Thursday.  I can hardly sleep.  Gary has to coax me to eat, and to brush my hair.   I am so excited.  WHERE will it go?
