We believe in simplification and sustainability, in our personal life, and our business life. How will my actions affect others? Do I really NEED this - where did it come from? Need less, use less, and enjoy life more.

Gary is my extremely patient, hardworking, and supportive husband. We work together, both cutting and sewing. I drive him crazy sometimes. Max is our inspiration and son, a bright, interesting young man of 13 years. I am Debra, lover of any textile soft, fuzzy, and washable. In the morning we have fuzz in our coffee, so I guess you can say it is in our veins!
Minkee Baby Gifts is a business owned and run by my family. It has become much more tame, pleasant, and docile over the years as we have forced it into a smaller space, not only in a physical sense (smaller shop), but also in our lives. I have fought with it over the years, at times wanting to slay the dragon, other times feeding and cherishing it, but finally coming to terms with it's place in our lives. It is a means to an end, it is a business that helps us accomplish our goals.
While it may be strange to some for us to be MANUFACTURERS of STUFF and yet believe in simplifying and less consumerism, the fact is that we need food, shelter, and clothing. This is how we chose to make a living. And, I still believe that baby needs at least ONE special blanket in his life!
Here are some posts about how we came to this decision to simplify:
Regarding lifestyle changes:
Our little business once took almost 800 sq ft of space:
Then we went down to 500 sq ft:
Now we are at 200 sq feet:
The last note: we were self sustained missionaries for almost nine years in South America before our son came along the way. We would love to do it again, and teach him a different life. Our plan is for little business to help us get there again!
